At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet. Plato

Love is deeply embedded each of us. Helen E. Fisher, a biological anthropologist, has developed four biologically based personality types for Chemistry.com that explain the chemistry of love.

Romantic chemistry is based on chemicals in brain: estrogen, testosterone, dopamine and serotonin.  Over 50% of our personality is chemically drawn with traits from our body’s systems. Her book Why Him? Why Her? explains how each type has its own unique way of relating, dating and mating.

The Builder’s attributes come from the serotonin system. They are the least romantic being traditional, logistically skilled, conventional, and quick to follow the rules.

Explorers identify most with traits from the dopamine system. Explorers are full of energy and adventure. They are charismatic, curious, spontaneous and flexible enough to go with the flow.

Directors are linked to the testosterone system. They are analytical, logical, decisive, fair, direct, focused and competitive. They love to engage in intellectual conversation.

Negotiators are connected to the estrogen system making them the most complicated. Negotiators are charming, subtle and highly theoretical with great verbal skills. Negotiator are compassionate and nurturing.

Long and short of it, if you are in the market for a romantic lasting relationship, Dr. Fisher has great statistics for success and might be your ticket.
