We always start with the first bottom line, if a company is not successful, there can be no impact. Nancy Pfund, Founder of Double Bottom Line Partners

In Home Depot the other day, we were approached by a  gentleman wanting to introduce Solar City to us a way to purchase solar power for the home.  Tandem to meeting him I heard this amazing talk on the Commonwealth Club  on Impact Investing.

The speaker, Nancy Pfund, created the world of profit and positive investing where financial success goes hand-in-hand with social change by achieving high venture capital returns working with companies that use economic, social and environmental impact.

One of her organizations is Solar City.  Two others: Pandora and Patagonia.  All of the companies they invest in have built social impact into their business plans from the very beginning with the intention of generating social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. It makes sooooo much sense. I want to participate however I can!
