Euphoria at getting a refund from the IRS, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with. Author unknown

I wish I had something positive and insightful to say about our tax system but when comparisons are made about state vs. federal, Roth vs. 401k, capital gain vs. earned income, I’m operating at a loss. I believe it is important, I simply can’t figure out how to apply it to myself.
The complexity of The Tax Policy Briefing Book proves that our tax code is too complex for any simple decisions about how much of the tax burden should fall on the rich, or the proper size, if any, of tax incentives for saving and education or how to face the large fiscal imbalance made through Social Security and Medicare.
The bottom line: Spend wisely, give generously and enjoy it while you can.
