I should have predicted that after I introduced my granddaughters to my favorite program, Project Runway, they would want to take advantage of their Bubbe’s resources and try some projects of their own. Last time they were in Pittsburgh at Chanukah, after failing miserably at clothing, we cut simple patchwork blocks and successfully made smallish wall hangings.
Last week in New Jersey, we had our first real clothing success. Not being in the studio with all of its resources took some creativity on my part, so when the girls were unwilling to give up any of their current clothing and I could find neither a Goodwill or Joanne’s in the area, I succumbed to Wal-Mart. But, when not even this Wal-Mart had yard goods, I ventured into girl’s clothing and bought six different color basic tees and two clearance logo tees. After dissecting these pre-made garments, the girls designed, cut and rearranged the materials to create one-of-a-kind Silk-Junior Tees. Adorable? Can’t wait to see where we go from here.
