Welcome Parents, Grandparents, Students, and Friends!  Today, I am excited to launch my new blog which will focus on various topics within the world of college admissions. As an independent college counselor and parent of two college graduates, I understand first-hand how overwhelming the college admissions process can be for students and parents alike.  Going to college should be a wonderful experience – it’s a time for our kids to be independent, explore new academic challenges, pursue potential career interests, and experience new social opportunities.  However, getting to that point can often mean a complex journey for all, involving numerous family discussions, serious soul searching and planning, research, time, college visits, essay writing, applications galore, and several zigs and zags along the way.

“Back in the day” when I went to college, the process was quite different, not nearly as competitive, was certainly less expensive and less complicated as many of us only applied to a few colleges.  It’s a whole new world now, with competitive admission standards, lots of choices, essays to write, and applications to complete.  So….It is my hope that this blog will provide some insight, guidance, tips, trends, and answers about  anything and everything related to the college admissions process so that YOU, YOUR CHILD OR GRANDCHILD, or FAMILY FRIEND can be more informed and educated about important aspects related to college admissions.

I invite you to tune in, ask questions, and provide comments as I touch on  different topics each month.   For all those who are getting ready to enter into the world of undergraduate or graduate school admissions, may the force be with you!
